AEA Statement on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
The American Evaluation Association is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for all. We believe that our strength and the value we create lies in the diversity of our membership. We recognize this is an ongoing journey. Our work neither begins, nor ends with this statement. We are dedicated to continuous learning and improvement in our DEIB efforts.
Diversity: We aim to honor and respect the unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences of every individual. In all our venues and activities we strive to create a culture where everyone feels valued and heard.
Equity: We are dedicated to ensuring fair treatment, access, and opportunities for all. We actively work to identify and eliminate barriers that prevent the full participation of any group.
Inclusion: We strive to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of safety. We encourage open dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that all voices are heard and honored. Further, we make an effort to ensure people of all abilities are able to fully participate in all aspects of our organization.
Belonging: We aim to create a community where everyone feels connected and valued. We believe that when people feel they belong, they are empowered to gain the most from their membership in and contribute authentically to the AEA community, ensuring we remain a robust force for evaluation praxis that promotes a more just and equitable world.
