Call for Applications: Publications Task Force

The American Evaluation Association (AEA) is seeking members to join the Publications Task Force. The Task Force works to maintain the association’s journals’ longstanding excellence and to increase visibility, readership, impact, and relevance to evaluation professionals and scholars.

The role of the Task Force includes evaluating the performance of AEA’s flagship journals, The American Journal of Evaluation (AJE) and New Directions for Evaluation (NDE), coordinating the search for publication editors, and making recommendations to the Board of Directors for innovations with the publications.

The members of this task force are appointed by and report to the Board of Directors, and their work will reflect AEA’s values and end goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a Call for Applications for Editors, and manage criteria;
• Help to develop a strong pool of qualified candidates for the Editor-in-Chief position(s);
• Manage the selection process for Editors of the journals;
• Monitor the impact factors and overall performance of AJE and NDE;
• Conduct an annual evaluation of the Editorial staff and make recommendations to the AEA Board of Directors accordingly;
• Communicate with the AEA Board of Directors to inform of recommendations, and issues/concerns regarding publications.

Term:

• Three (3) years, beginning November 1, 2022

Criteria:

• AEA Member for at least five (5) years;
• Evidence of commitment to AEA’s values through service to AEA and/or the evaluation community;
• Senior or mid-career evaluation scholar with demonstrated deep appreciation for the distinctive and diverse nature of evaluation’s theory, methods, and practice and for the breadth and heterogeneity of the profession and its scholarship;
• Demonstrated record of academic and evaluation accomplishments and scholarship via books, book chapters or publications in peer reviewed journals and publications on evaluation;
• Evidence of editorial experience in the form of providing reviews, editorial board service, or fulfillment of other editorial roles for scholarly books and journals is a plus, but not required.

Application materials must be submitted by September 30, 2022 to AEA’s Executive Director, Anisha Lewis (alewis@eval.org). Packets must include a cover letter that addresses the applicant’s qualifications.
